Anythings is now on Android

Anythings is on Google Play as of today. That was the last gap: it now runs on iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows and the web. Wherever you are when the thought turns up, there is somewhere to put it — and it is the same list every time.

One list, five places

The point was never to collect platforms. It is that the moment a task occurs to you is rarely the moment you are holding the right device. You think of it in a meeting on your laptop, in the car with your phone, halfway through a sentence in an email. If capture is only available in one place, you end up doing the thing everybody does — remembering it until later, then not.

So the same app is now wherever you are, and each version does the thing that makes sense for where it runs:

• iPhone and Android — the full app, plus the share sheet, so anything you are looking at can become a task without leaving it.
• Mac and Windows — a global hotkey (⇧⌘Space, or Ctrl+Shift+Space) opens a capture box over whatever you are doing, and your next task sits in the menu bar. Both are in beta while we watch them run on real machines.
• The web — nothing to install, and the same list as everything else.
• Claude and ChatGPT — the MCP connector, if you would rather just say it mid-conversation.

The syncing is the part that actually matters

Being on five platforms is worth nothing if they disagree with each other. Until recently ours refreshed when you came back to a window — which is fine most of the time and quietly awful the rest of it. You tick something off on your phone, walk to your desk, and the laptop is still showing it as outstanding. Not broken, exactly. Just enough friction to make you stop trusting it.

Every client now holds a live connection instead. Capture something on your phone and it is on your desktop before you have put the phone down. Complete it on the web and it disappears from your Mac while you are watching. There is no refresh button because there is nothing to refresh.

A list you have to double-check is a list you are keeping in your head as well. The whole job here is getting it out of your head.

And it is still one price

This is where a lot of apps would start counting devices. Anythings is $19.99, once, and that covers all of it — every platform above, every future one, no per-seat maths and nothing to renew. Buying it on your phone means you own it on your desktop. Your first 50 tasks are free with everything switched on, so you can find out whether it earns the money before you spend any.

That decision is the subject of its own post, and it holds here too: charging again for the same list on a second screen would be charging for our convenience rather than yours.

What is next

Anythings also speaks ten languages now, and the next one is genuinely up for grabs — tell us which and it moves up the list. Meanwhile the desktop apps lose their beta labels once we have watched them behave across enough machines and enough days, which is a matter of evidence rather than a date.
